Low in Sodium & High in Flavor, the Perfect Salt Alternative

kiji toasted almonds - low sodium healthy nut recipe

Sodium. It’s been on the list of bad words for awhile now. And rightly so, its been linked to recking havoc on our blood pressure, weight, and cholesterol. But I’m not a health professional, and I’m not here to talk about your diet. Instead, I’d simply like to introduce you to a new salt alternative that I found at a recent market called Koji Fine Foods.
The makers of Koji Salt, a traditional Asian condiment derived from rice, has been changing up how I prepare food in the kitchen. Full in flavor, Koji Salt not only adds more flavor than traditional salt, but it dramatically reduces the amount of sodium in your food. By simply adding the paste (double the measurement when replacing salt) , or wet salt as they like to call it, to a recipe that requires mixing, I can reduce the recipe’s sodium intake to 20 %! Now that’s what I call a great salt alternative!
Now after using Koji salt in a variety of recipes, including our thanksgiving dinner, I don’t think I’ll ever return to using traditional salt in my cooking. Recently, I had the pleasure of preparing this quick appetizer from Koji Fine Foods for Flannel + Frost. Guests absolutely loved it this nut recipe, and were blown away when I told them about the salt alternative ingredient.  I even gifted a jar to my mother for the holidays!
Try this nut recipe for a healthy snack, charcuterie platter, or a host/ hostess gift today! You’ll find this quick appetizer is handy for many occasions.
